Brunswick      River      Restoration      Action      Group

             What BRRAG DOES

BRRAG has been very active as a community group over the past decade, successfully working with landowners along the Brunswick River.

As a result of successful grant applications work has included:

  • Weed control, to control cotton bush, bridal creeper, blackberry and arum lily.

  • Installation of 5km of river fencing to keep stock from the river and placement of several water troughs.

  • Revegetating 5ha with native seedlings, shrubs and trees to restore river banks and arrest soil erosion.

  • Undertaking research into native fish stock, principally from LCC and South West Catchment Councils (SWCC).

BRRAG has also extended its sustainability message and action to support the future of the Brunswick River through community and school education programs. This has been done by building a ‘good river / bad river’ model transported on a custom built trailer, with funds provided by Lotterywest.
